PI Adapters to support installation on Windows Server 2016 and above

To support the migration path of existing PI Interfaces / PI Connectors to PI Adapters, the installation packages available and SW requirements only has been certified for Windows 10 and Windows 10 IoT. We would require the ability to re-use existing HW in place for collecting data instead of having to deploy new HW with compatible OS that are not server class OS.

    Thank you for all your input on this request. The most recent versions of AVEVA Adapter for OPC UA (1.4.0.196) and AVEVA Adapter for MQTT (1.3.0.103) are supported on Windows Server operation systems, specifically Server 2019 and Server 2022. All subsequent releases of our other adapters will also support these operating systems. Please refer to the aforementioned comments related to 2016 support.

    Hello Jiyeon,

    Thank you for this update. Is it also possible to use the adapter for windows server 2016? If yes: do you know when it comes available?

    Thank you for submitting this enhancement request. Moving forward, AVEVA Adapters (formerly PI Adapters) will include support for Windows Server operating system. Our commitment is to provide support for the most current version of the OS and one version prior. The AVEVA Adapters currently in development (OPC UA and MQTT as of January 2023) will be supported on Windows Server 2019 and Windows Server 2022. For the most up-to-date list of supported operating systems, please check the System Requirements page of our product documentation.

    Ideally Server Core to maintain the stated intent to have minimal resource needs.

    If PI Adapters really are the successors to PI Interfaces and PI Connectors, then it is guaranteed that someone will want to install these on Windows Server.

    This is a must in pharma as this otherwise locks the adapter in on Windows10 which is typically not under quality control in pharma
