Close Comments on Old Posts

I would like old posts on PI Square to automatically close comments after, say, 3 months. Very often new users will search for a solution to a problem they are having, find a somewhat relevant post from ages ago, then comment "I'm having this problem too". It's unlikely that they will get help and they may not be commenting on a relevant post. I would much rather see them open a new question.

    I disagree with this suggestion. I feel that it should be left to the user to pay attention to the age of the post. There are many reasons to comment on old posts, such as to correct or clarify an answer, or to suggest using a product that didn't exist at the time, or to point out that an issue still exists.
