Recover data from current time moving backwards

Recover data from the current time back rather than start of a data gap to now (current time). The most important thing is to get current data immediately.

    Due to the nature of summary calculations requiring historical data, i.e. 15 minute averages, it's not feasible to implement this idea.

    What would be the desired behavior if the calculation requires multiple values that have not yet been calculated (what we call I/O attributes)?
