Undelete PI tags

Recovering a PI tag that was deleted accidently is extremly annoying. Why do I have to create a new tag and reprocess all historical archives to convert the old tag to the new tag in the archives? (https://techsupport.osisoft.com/Troubleshooting/KB/2651OSI8/) It should be quite easy to just recreate the original tag if you have the pointid and recno. Maybe when deleting a tag you should only mark the tag as deleted instead of removing it from the pi point table.

If deleted tags were kept around for a definable period (eg: 30 or 90 days), an undelete capability would be easy.

100% agree. Even a confirmation dialog with how many tags are about to be deleted would have helped...

Since this likely wouldn't be a common task, even having the ability to create tags via PICONFIG and having the ability to specify the pointid and recno of the deleted tag would suffice. I can see leaving this out of the GUI tools, but some back-end tool should have this functionality at least.
