Link tuning parameters to the UOM database

Many of the tuning parameters have units, but the unit can only be found in the tuning parameter's description and is not written consistently (sometimes written in full, sometimes abbreviated, sometimes written as a symbol). Linking the tuning parameters to the UOM database would clean this mess, allow the user to input tuning parameters in different units, and allow the user to convert existing tuning parameters to different units for easier interpretation.
  • ADMIN RESPONSE
    Aug 20, 2022
Assuming this request pertains to the AF UOM database, unfortunately the Data Archive and AF Server do not communicate with each other by design. When configuring AF, the AF SDK (as a client) does the communication with the Data Archive. This request would entail allowing the user on the Data Archive to establish a client side communication with the AF Server and support the security mechanism (PI Identity and AF Identity) for both systems. Since the manipulation of Data Archive tuning parameters should not be an everyday occurrence, the added overhead and implementation cost would not be justified therefore we currently have no plans to implement this request.
