Add Tag Import feature like old "PI Tag Configurator"

Add Tag Import feature like old "PI Tag Configurator":  PI Builder cannot import attributes of a list of tags pasted into the spreadsheet from another source like "PI Tag Configurator" could.  With PI Builder, if you have want to work on tags that don't group together well by name or description, you have to either make multiple, varied searches or pull in an extra large pack of tags and pair them down.  Also, its tag search is inferior, limited to Name, Source, type, class, units, and description.  There is no way to search by Location1, creation date, etc.  Please review the import and search capabilities of PI Tag Configurator and make equivalent features available in PI Builder.

PI Builder can import from a list tags. Select the point attributes you want via the "Headers" option, fill in tag names in the the spreadsheet's name column, and click the "Retrieve" button in the tool ribbon (it was called Refresh in earlier version of PI Builder but performs the same function). While PI Builder does not support all the search options of the advanced tab of the PI Tag Configurator search dialog, it can perform the searches you mentioned. Any point attribute can be searched on but this does required typing the point attribute into the search text box. As you begin typing in the UI search box, it will help you with the point attribute names. "location1:3" or "creationdate:>2019-1-1" are examples of valid searches. Multiple clauses are AND'ed together. As of 2018, you can search on snapshot values as well: "Value:>100", timestamps: "timestamp<*-1h" and quality (IsGood, Questionable, Substituted, and Annotated)

Chris - give us the option to just bring in additional tagnames into an existing list from a find. And like the PI-SMT add-in, have it sense an existing list and add the selected tags to the bottom of the list

Beginning in the 2018 (2.10) version, PI Builder will give you an option to append tags to the existing list in the spreadsheet after performing a search.

In response to Bruce McCamant, "Chris - give us the option to just bring..." That's existing capability.

I consulted the PI Builder User Guide. Why would I check the PI System Explorer guide?   Live Library?  That's a joke.  50-50 shot at content loading - same behavior from different locations, different computers.  No better than the new portal...

Sorry, I meant PI Builder user guide, not PI System Explorer user guide.

Did you use the LiveLibrary online doc or from PI System Explorer Help?

So it does - after testing.  Checked Builder 2019 User Guide (where I started) - poorly explained...
