Analysis Service Performance Counters for Specific Databases

Allow Analysis Service performance counters for specific AF databases only in order to disregard test databases when monitoring the performance counters.

In the PI Server 2018 SP2 release, we are providing programmatic ways to retrieve run time status from analyses. With this you would be able to monitor your analyses based on your own criteria, for example: lag > X seconds, analyses that have not executed in the last Y hours, etc. We have a session at the upcoming PI World that demonstrates how to use this. Note Performance Counters are implemented at a high level and monitors the entire PI Analysis Service only. We have no plans to add capabilities to monitor on a per AF database level.

Currently, we are monitoring "Number of Analyses in Error" perfmon counter which generates an alert and creates a ticket in our ticketing tool for PI support team. Our AF server has multiple logical AF databases and some are test DBs in which developers work to develop and test new analyses. Because this perfmon counter only returns number of errorneous analyses service level, there is no way to distinguish if they are from a production DBs or test DBs on the same server. (I know one would argue why we have test DBs on production AF server, but that's easy to maintain versus maintaining a test AF server..Lol). If OSIsoft can include performance counters to monitor individual AF DBs as well, it will work for my use case.

Stephen Kwan, well I guess I did not explain it correctly. Note that we have all production DBs on production AF server. However, not all AF DBs are critical business applications. Only some are critical business applications AF DBs which we want to monitor for analyses in errors. Can you re-open the UserVoince enhancement? Let me know if you need more context about this request.
