Add FFT calculations

Currently, PI has an FFT interface. I would like to take this functionality and implement it within Asset Analytics so that we can understand the dominant frequencies of our continuous process data without having to support a separate custom application.

Asset Analytics in AF was designed to be a streaming calculation engine. The engine performs calculations based on triggers as new data comes into the system. Is this request to perform FFT on a continuous basis in a streaming fashion? In addition, the results of a FFT would be magnitude vs. frequency. We have no good ways to store such results, especially if the FFT is calculated in a streaming fashion continuously. As such, we currently have no plans to implement this. If you have additional information or use case to support this request, please add it to this request.

I agree that FFT would be valuable in AF functions. If it's any consolation you can currently build your own FFT symbol in PI vision to get the ball rolling as an ad hoc user activity. The event frames UI in PI Vision can help you manage these ad hoc data sets to be more structured. Hope this helps.

It would be a great benefit to have a feature in PI to determine dominate frequencies. I do not know how many times I have used a home grown program to do this. The home grown program is no longer supported in W10. This new OSI feature would be able to take a time series over a time frame and determine the dominate frequencies and produce power spectrum graphs as an output.
