Let PI SQL Client access SQL Tables

Let PI SQL Client access SQL Tables

PI SQL Client provides access to the PI System in a relational view. It is purely a tool for access OSIsoft resources, and there are no plans to allow access to external resources. That being said, we do support adding the PI System as a linked server inside SQL Server Management Studio, so that both SQL calls and PI OLEDB calls can be made in the same work space. PI SQL tables that are created are PI resources. They are created inside pi and are used by PI. To be clear, I am talking about tables that are set up inside pi. I am not talking about external tables that PI links to. What you are telling us is that any information in PI Sql tables is not really usable except for the use case where you are using the PI Explorer. thats fine, but our recourse is to not use PI SQL tables. Instead, put those tables outside pi and then link them. Its not a big technical shift at all. Just one we have to be aware of. why not just have a name space Master.Element.SQLTables and let us do selects using the PI SQL client ? Maybe its technically challenging? Ive never written a sql parser so I dont kow . Thanks for the consideration.
