As Jeremy suggested, turning on "Update" would accomplish the task - recalculate and resize the formulas without using the right-click menu.

I believe you are correct that the "Update" button accomplishes the task, recalculate without resize. I think the confusion comes from the lack of consistency in the naming of the functions and fully realizing what each function accomplishes. Task Pane - "OK" button - Right Click Menu - "Recalculate (Resize) Function" - Datalink Ribbon - "Update" button Formula Ribbon - "Calculate" Keyboard - pressing F9 (or shift+F9 or crtl+alt+shift+F9) Excel Sheet - select a single function/formula and pressing "enter" (or crtl+shift+enter for arrays) 6 different ways a user could attempt an 'update'. None of which use common terminology and they all tend to behave slightly different; updating all functions vs one, resize vs not resize, dependency tree rebuild, etc. Thus maybe this idea would be more useful as an attempt to bring clarity to this problem in a way that is intuitive for the average and new user
