Allow Tag Template Triggers to trigger on blank placeholders

Currently, Batch Interface Framework interfaces implement tag template triggers that can trigger whenever a placeholder has any value. These interfaces should also support triggering when a placeholder does not have a value. For example, our SISBatch data source has separate columns for Operation and Phase information. We would like to record the value of the [DESCRIPT] column in a tag only for non-phase batch events (i.e. trigger the tag template only when the [PHASE] placeholder is blank).

    We found out that there is an undocumented [BLANKPLACEHOLDER] that works. It is documented in the FactoryTalk Batch manual.

    This is now planned, and should be completed for select interfaces by Q1 2025. PI Interface for Emerson DeltaV Batch and PI Interface for Siemens SIMATIC Batch will be the first interfaces to release with this functionality.

    We upgraded the EMDVB interface to version 5.1, but unfortunately the features is not available.

    We are forced to use an old version 3.x to collect records where the UNIT is not selected.

    Sometimes a [UNIT] is not selected, and we want to detect this in a Tag Template.

    This feature was available in version 3.x of EMDVB (Emerson DeltaV Batch Interface)

    The lack of this capability in version 4.x is a serious backwards compatibility issue.

    We hope a new release will be available in a short time.

    The capability to interpret blank fields would be very beneficial. The addition of reading S88 batch levels 1-6 [Level] would also be useful.
