Enable logging of 5.x batch interface messages to the local PI message log again

Message logs for 5.X Batch interfaces and Connectors are written to Windows Event Viewer instead of PI Message Logs as in previous versions. The Windows Event Log is extremely slow compared to viewing PI message logs, the filtering is worse, the messages are harder to look through (more bloated), etc. If not, is there an existing request to get this functionality back? Same question for Connectors.

I'm guessing that this is to support Splunk and other enterprise log gathering programs. OSIsoft probably heard from IT other than OSIsoft IT.

As of version 5.x, Batch interfaces no longer incorporate PI SDK. As such, it is impossible to write to the SDK logs, and all logs are now written to the Windows Event Viewer.

This is a permanent change and falls in line with other PI Products. We will definitely work to improve the logging from our side as much as possible, but logs will always have to be viewed in the Event Viewer from now on.
