Restrict Batch interface from creating Event Frames using illegal characters

The PI Interface for Rockwell FactoryTalk Batch in processing evt files used a hexadecimal character of 1f in the generation of an event frame. This results in an error when attempting to export the event frame in an xml output.

I took a look at the EVT file attached to the tech support case - is there a reason for having a Unit Separator in the batch id? Is this common with the FactoryTalk data source?

Because this interface ingests EVT files and automatically creates EF's based on the content of the EVT files, It would be nice to not allow the interface to create event frames that AF considers illegal. Upon exporting the event frames from an AF database, our export unexpectedly aborts because it encounters events with this illegal character.
