Make "PI Views" easier for BI access or support SQL in the BI edition

Using the integrator for BA - BI edition, you need to use the PI ODBC driver to read the data from PI views. That is a lot of hassle, given the fact that in most clients it is way easier to read from SQLserver where the data is in the first place. With the only exception that the tablename is the GUID instead of the view name. I created some scripting to create views based on the data in SQL and the data in the Integrator DB just to read the data directly from SQL. I think this limitation makes no sense. Even the BI version should be able to write to SQL tables.

Since the original reason the idea was created has been resolved with the 2018 releases of PI Integrator for Business Analytics, this idea will be marked as complete.

This is long overdue, but hopefully everyone got the news that we have merged BI and DW editions into a new Standard Edition of PI Integrator for Business Analytics. All BI Edition customers can now write to SQL directly. However, this doesn't address the original idea, which is to remove PI ODBC for PI Views. Are PI Views still useful for your use cases?

With the removal of the difference between the BI and DW editions this resolves the reason why i created this item. The title is slightly confusing though, of course if one wishes to use PI Views, PI ODBC is still needed.
