Ability to change the configuration of the Asset drop-down using a URL parameter

I would like to be able to change the Asset drop-down from a navigation link in a PI Vision display ( in other words to change the configuration of the Context Switching for a display) so that I can reuse an existing display and point it to different search roots with a different asset drop-down.

This would be very significant for us. This would allow us to provide a link to a Division, Route, Foreman and reduce the drop down to only the items that use the Search Root that is passed in the link.

This is a request that we continue to get feedback on. The most common scenario would be having a common display thats used for a number of asset on the same template (vessel, gas meter, well, etc). In the current asset context drop-down there may be 20 pages of the same item. By allowing a URL parameter that sets the root, we could limit the asset drop-down to only show the items that are located in a particular division, route, office, etc making it much easier to find your items in a much smaller list.

As noted from others this will make it much easier to find data.

I agree with the prior comments. This would be a major improvement.
