Log out capability

We would like to change users often. Could we have a logout button or something similar?

With PI Vision 2023 configured with OpenID Connect authentication, users have the ability to log out of the PI Vision application.

PI Vision is not having logout option in the application, any user can still use the existing application. That means closing the browser does not stop another user from using old session and querying the application. This is a security vulnerability and has been pointed out by the Auditor in our organization. The Logout option should be incorporated

It would make switching users easier. Helpful when performing configuration and setting up shared displays.

From previous post. We use Pi Vision on Windows Integrated Security.I am wondering how i can logout from Pi Vision. To meet current government standards and regulations and pass audits we need the capability to have a user logout or someone that has become idle for say 30 minutes automatically logout the browser session . For instance: Situation 1: If i access Pi Vision from a computer in the domain (and the browser settings are correct), the logged-on user's identity is used to logon. No questions asked. Situation 2: if i access Pi Vision from a computer outside of the domain (e.g. over the internet) then a popup appears where the browser asks to enter the user credentials. Now my questions: In situation 1, how could i logon using a different user account? Is that at all possible with a logout and login drop down menu? In situation 2, the credentials are kept for quite some time. It can take 2/3 days before i am asked again to enter my credentials. How can i switch to a different account in this case? How to remove the (cached?) user credentials? How to timeout the session after a set time?

For situation 1, the browser is logging the user in based on who they are logged into the machine as, this is something the is configurable in the browser. This can be adjusted so that the user gets prompted to enter their username and password which would allow them to log on as a user that is different from the user logged into the machine. Otherwise, on a Windows machine you can hold Shift and right-click on the application in the toolbar to get presented with an option to run the browser application as a different user. For situation 2, there is no way to time out the session with Windows or Basic authentication. You can switch to a different user by closing the browser and using one of the two options mentioned above. The only way to time out the session currently would be to configure PI Vision for claims authentication, which does support session time out.

Create a PI Vision Login and Logout Button. Many times isn't possible to clean cache, there are browser restrictions on site and so on.

We recently went through a configuration of PI Vision using Claims based authentication to allow users to connect to PI Vision externally without a VPN or internal domain account. While an option to sign out is presented on the PI Vision page, this doesn't pass through a valid token to the external gateway giving all users who attempt to sign out an error message instead. This can only be worked around by making a custom HTTP module to manually generate a logout message, instead of just being handled directly in PI Vision.
