Add description to search results

Show description information in the search results when searching for PI tags and AF attributes. Just showing the Tag Name is not helpful on sites with large volumes of complexly named tags. Descriptions are shown in a tooltip when hovering over search results however description information needs to be more prominent.

    AVEVA PI Vision 2023 SP1 introduces new functionality to show the tag description alongside the PI tag name in the search results pane.

    Users are asking for a feature that was available in ProcessBook

    It is someting available in Processbook and very usefull for the users as sometimes the name of the element has not a meaning for the end user. It will be usefull for both elements and attributes

    Agreed. PI Vision needs to be more informative to tag based search results as in more times than not, the tag name does not maen a lot to the end user and as such rely on the desctiption as to ascertain if they have identified the correct tag. Out organisation does not have a mature AF Structure so a lot of users are still very focused on using PI Tags so trying to get them to adopt PI VIsion over ProcessBook is difficult.

    "Add the description when you search for tags". When I seek for a tag, I see a lot of tags. But, I don't know the description for all tags. The idea is to add the description-text to the text (small letters).

    It is a very good idea. Only attribute name does not help us in finding the good one. Adding the tag description will help us. Other systems like Aspen use this kinf of search by name and description.

    What happened to the ProcessBook tag search in PI Vision? Can you include some of those features in the PI Vision tag search? Is there anything you can add to Vision so we can search by parameters (i.e. instrumenttag)? Can you add columns to the search result so we can see descriptions, units, ranges, etc?

    The only negative feedback i receive from my users for pi-vision is about the search that is not user friendly like the search in Datalink. Because of that, i must keep Processbook and an activeview page we built which call the datalink tag search interface via vb code to allow an adhoc trend to be built on the fly by less experienced users. I think that simply adding the tag description after the name tags in the results pane will solve the problem.

    For our users this was an naturally feature in ProcessBook and it shoud be there in PIVision also.

Include description of tags in search
