It would be a helpful addition. Nowadays the only useful use for descriptions are, in my opinion, organizational purposes within AF or/and to show an extra label on PI Vision.
Adding it to the search engine would be useful as well (I do it a lot when searching for tags related to some kind of equipment but I am not sure of its name)
