Use AF attribute traits to set symbol scale or limits

As a PI Vision user, I would like to have the option to set the scale or limits of any symbol based on the attribute traits defined in AF. When the symbol contains multiple attributes, it would be useful to be able to select only one attribute to define the scale of the symbol.

PI Vision currently supports this functionality. When the ‘database’ option is selected for a symbol scale, if the attribute has Min and Max traits, the traits will automatically be used to define the scale on the PI Vision symbol.

This seems obvious. I hope it gets implemented, and soon.

Dynamic would be better. And by min and max traits, does that mean Minimum and Maximum limits?

Symbols such as bar gauge default 0-100 for scale limits. It would be nice if they were dynamic by default.

Hi Jason, Yes, you are right. By min and max traits, it means Minimum and Maximum limits which are configured in AF. When an attribute's min and max traits are configured to be dynamic, which is supported in AF, its scale in PI Vision will also be dynamic by default (scale range uses database settings by default). Thanks for your feedback. Should you need help configuring dynamic AF traits, please contact OSIsoft Tech Support. Best, Victor Zhang Technical Product Manager, Visualization | OSIsoft
