Beside the fact that the value returned by the cursor must be in line with the real value in the PI-Archive, it is even more problematic that if you place two trends with the same tag on one display the values returned by the cursors show the same timestamp but the values do not match. This should not be treated as a feature request. It is a data-application returning wrong numbers and this leads to compliance issues.
Agree with Andres...the application should not be able to give an incorrect value for the timestamp shown. In regulated pharma industry this would be considered a data integrity issue equivalent to fraud. The application should either snap to a nearby archived value per lilu's suggestion, or not provide any data until the relevant zoom resolution allows sufficient information to properly interpolate.
I'm not sure if your people are asking for this "enhancement" for the same reason we are asking for it, but in our case a user was able to put a cursor on a 7 day display and the cursor showed an incorrect data value for the timestamp shown on the cursor. In my opinion, an application that allows the user to see incorrect data values should be considered a bug that should be fixed as soon as possible. Case number: 01112194. Thanks as always for the support, Andres.
I agree with Koji. A functionality to snap-to-archived value like the snap-to-grid functionality that was introduced to symbols in recent years would be needed.
