Allow sharing a display with edit permission

As a display creator, I want to give other users edit permission on the display so we can collaborate in creating the display and so that other users from my team can make needed changes when I'm not available.

PI Vision 2020 introduces new display access capabilities that allow users to share edit access to their displays using AF identities, similar to the functionality of sharing read access. For additional information on PI Vision 2020, please see the release announcement here: https://customers.osisoft.com/s/knowledgearticle?knowledgeArticleUrl=000031641

Talking with a number of superusers at DCP Midstream, this is a critical feature that will allow teams to collaborate much more efficiently on development of displays. Please prioritize this feature!

When sharing a display, it would be useful if you could choose whether you wanted someone to have read-only or edit permissions to it. Currently, only one person can make edits to a display and anyone that it's shared with can only view in read-only. Edits they make must be saved under a new name, which does not allow for collaboration.

Have the ability to assign ownership of a display to an Active Directory group as opposed to a single individual.

Is it possible to have 1 display with multiple owners? This will be a good case when we have users that works 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off but are working and enhancing the same display.

Need the ability to associate display ownership to an identity so that a group of people can modify the display.  This need in environment where we have multiple shifts.

Excellent! I was just asking for this at a recent PI presentation! I had asked for ownership to be set to a group. Some sort of role-based edit permissions is definitely needed!

Same need here, we want to be able to have multiple editors for a single screen, preferably driven by AD groups.

Verso needs to assign editing privileges based on ActiveDirectory groups such that engineers in the Paper mill are not editing displays for the Pulp mill, for example.

I have previously requested ownership by group. It would be great to be able to assign an owner and then a group for edit permissions.

Something like 2 people working on same document in google sheets. We can know who is working on our display. or a check in / check out concept on the pi vision displays would be awesome , so users can collaborate - rather than creating multiple copies and sharing multiple copies of the same ! Its a long road to train the users on standard use of PI Vision.

I am wondering why only ONE owner should be responsible for a display. We have thousands of ProcessBook displays we want to migrate and groups of persons are responsible for these. Without having the possibility to assign the "edit rights" to a group, it doesn't make sense to migrate.

At Devon Energy, we have a number of displays that have been published for entire departments and these displays are only published by our AF Administrator identity (which maps to an Active Directory group). I would like to be able to set the owner of these types of displays to our AF Administrator Identity, to allow this group to make the necessary changes. Our current process is to change the owner of the display, make the edits and save - but this has cost us considerable time.

@amit, AF Identity, do you mean literally an identity configured by an admin in system explorer? Or just a user account? The former isn’t too useful.

The ability to share the same display and make changes within a group of folks is a big need for us.
