Automatic export of displays through the keys of the utility "PIVisionDisplayUtility" by analogy with "AFExport" or "AFImport".

Starting with the "PIVision" 2021 version, there is a function to export displays to the "pdix" format, we can make some kind of display storage. This is a very nice feature, but we can only export displays manually.

If it were possible to automate the process of exporting displays through the utility "PIVisionDisplayUtility" keys or another utility like "AFExport" or "AFImport".

This would be handy for creating an "Automatic Displays Backup" system. We could create a script that would create backups through the scheduler. Outside of a general SQL database backup.

I agree that its nice to have the option using the PI Vision API to script the export/import of the PI Vision displays. However it would be a lot better if could for example configure a scheduled task within PI Vision (one of the Admin pages somewhere) to automate the backup of displays to a directory/file share on a scheduled basis. Then if need to restore/import a display, could use a command via the PI Vision API or better yet just do the import using the PI Vision Display Utility. Seems like this would be a more user friendly solution.

    Thanks Brent for your comment.

Tried to use the scripts from the link, the export and import scripts really work. I had a few issues importing displays. For example, out of 13 displays I exported, 1 display failed to import and this caused the import of the following displays to fail. Screens attached. But in general, this alternative to backup does not quite satisfy my request. I would like to create a repository of displays in "pdix" format so that I can conveniently restore point by point each display and be sure that the backups are working.

In this display export occurs in the "json" format and without saving the names of the displays, only the serial number and import should be done only through a prepared script. This solution has its place, but it would be more convenient to use the same export as through the "PIVision Utility", but through the command line.

    Have a nice day.

This is one of the use cases for the PI Vision Display Management API. It can be used with scripts/programs to automate tasks that are currently handled by the Display Utility. https://docs.osisoft.com/bundle/pi-vision-api-reference/page/overview.html
