Improved symbol selection area

For customers that have deployed a large number of custom symbols, the symbol selection area occupies a significant amount of the assets pane.

This item is in development for the upcoming PI Vision 2024 release. The planned functionality will allow users to expand/collapse the symbol area when there are many custom symbols.

Low resolution monitors combined with many symbols makes PI Vision display editing tedious work... And sometimes impossible when one has to scroll the attributes pane out of the way to see the AF navigation. It is not unusual to require many mouse moves to make a single change...

    1. Widen the symbols pane so there is any navigation visible for the AF hierarchy

    2. Scroll the attributes to the bottom of the screen to see a few rows of the AF hierarchy

    3. Navigate the AF hierarchy to find the element

    4. Scroll the attributes up so you can select the appropriate attribute

    5. Scroll the symbols pane to the left so you can see anything on the display panel

    6. drag and stop the attribute onto the display

If you are working with one asset, then you are done, but I often have collections of child elements so I repeat the process over and over for one display.

Currently if there are many custom symbols, the symbols pane will hide the navigation tree in PI Vision's Assets pane. When this happens, the Attributes pane has to be manually adjusted in order to navigate through an AF database which is not intuitive.
