Log when custom symbols break PI Vision

When a custom symbol is added to PI Vision that is incompatible or has broken JavaScript, the entire PI Vision application goes down (this can happen in one of two ways).


  1. You receive an "Error processing this request" message when visiting PI Vision.

  2. PI Vision loads but there's a JavaScript error which prevents the application from working correctly (the error can be seen in the console).

PI Vision should log when these issues occur. Otherwise, there is no way to proactively know that there is an issue with a server. Additionally, the point #1 above can have numerous reasons. Without logging the reason for the error, you can troubleshoot and perform incorrect steps and waste time.
