Our client Saudi ARAMCO has a need to assign "Manage" permissions to multiple displays in bulk. They are currently exploring workarounds using the PI Vision API, but this requires scripting effort.
Enabling bulk assignment of "Manage" permissions would greatly streamline administration, especially in environments with a large number of displays and multiple user groups.
This enhancement would significantly reduce manual effort, improve user access management, and align with enterprise governance practices.
Hi Yulia - is your request for 'Manage' to be auto-selected for those that currently have 'Write' permissions during upgrade? If not, can you please clarify the request?
In PI Vision 2024, we added the 'Manage' permission which is a combination of some behavior that previously belonged to 'Write' as well as some additional elevated permissions. We intentionally did not automatically provide 'Manage' permissions on upgrade so that customers would not suddenly see elevated permissions for their 'Write' users. This change/upgrade will require additional configuration to select the identities that require 'Manage' access. With other new functionality in the 2024 release like 'Override permissions on descendants', it is possible to quickly apply the new permissions to all displays in a folder.

"Manage" display permission was possible in the previous version _with the write permissions_ but not possible in the version PI Vision 2024.
