PI Vision - Configurable step factor for Time bar navigation

Current behaviour and issue

Today’s step buttons (arrows) move according to the full bar duration time, which I find inconvenient in most cases. For me, it would make more sense if each step shifted by half of the displayed duration, when moving forward or backward.

Often, I notice interesting data points near the edge of the visual area. When I step left or right, I lose the surrounding context because the entire view shifts beyond that point. While it is possible to get the exact time by manually adjusting the time fields, that is not the point - the step buttons should be user-friendly and allow quick navigation.

Suggested Improvement

I propose adding a configurable step factor on the admin page. This factor would multiply the on-screen time duration, with values ranging from 0.25 to 1:

1 = current behaviour (full duration shift)

0.5 = half the duration shift (my preferred setting)

The step should be based on the displayed duration, not limited by predefined field values. For example, if the zoomed-in area shows 4 hours, then with a factor of 0.5, the step would shift 2 hours.

Implementation Location
Since the “Display Defaults” section in the admin page already sets time bar values for Displays, Ad-hoc, and Popup views, I suggest including this new setting there.

Alternative solution

Implement two additional smaller arrows fixed to half of the duration step.
