Add Advanced Search Capabilities to the Assets Search Pane in PI Vision

Performing targeted searches against the data archive using the Advanced Search feature in PI Vision is highly effective for quickly narrowing results. Extending similar functionality to the Assets Search pane would offer even greater value. We have received this request from numerous end users across the company.

1. Limit Attribute Search Scope
   Allow users to restrict Attribute search results to the selected Asset rather than returning all results associated with the Asset’s parent element.

2. Expand Searchable Attribute Fields
   Enable searching on additional Attribute properties beyond name and description. Examples include category, unit of measure, value, instrumenttag for Attributes with Data Reference of PI Point, and other relevant metadata.

3. Attribute Data Preview on Hover
   Provide the ability to hover over an Attribute in the Search Pane to view key underlying data before adding it to a Display or Ad Hoc Workspace—for example, current value, timestamp, and instrument tag—instead of showing only the path or description.

4. Filter for Good-Quality Data
   Add a checkbox or search filter to return only Attributes whose underlying tag quality is “Good,” excluding Attributes that contain defined states such as “No Data.”
