+1 to add wind direction and wind speed in a compass like radial gauge. In our plant this information would be helpful to have on a plant overview display, as wind direction and speed. This would tell us if the wind is affecting boiler draft pressures and temperature swings on fin fan cooler exchangers.

An second enhancement would be a true wind rose gauge

If this is implemented, it should be made as generic as possible to allow this style of display to be used for n variables in y states that may not necessarily be compass points.

Using extensibility CTP this can be added to Coresight 2016

Interesting... A way to represent a 2D vector...

Can you please elaborate on this? What exactly are you looking for?

I assume that you are asking for a Wind Rose Diagram in Vision.  Is that correct?

In response to Jesse Ru, "I assume that you are asking for a Wind ..." I raised it in a presentation :-)   Anyway, here are several discussions about the need of a PI Vision component which looks like a windrose. I would also add that the wr should have two arrows. One inner Arrow which may show direction of a nacelle and an outer arrow showning actual wind direction. The component itself need an angel attribute because 0° is not everytime at 12o'clock.   If you have an example i can use as a blueprint, i will dev. such device once i understood how it works.   Br Uwe

Something like https://www.highcharts.com/demo/polar-wind-rose/dark-unica or even better, a way to support the extension of PI Vision to use any HighCharts symbols if the licence is in place !

I need a wind rose for a site dust monitoring application so a symbol as per the HighCharts wind rose would be fantastic. In addition I need to be able to create a "dust" rose, which will chart dust by wind direction, as per a wind rose

There are no tools in PI vision to visually represent something that rotates on a 360 degree plane. The Radial Gauge gets you close but cannot accurately represent feedback from a tool that rotates 360 degrees. We would need to be able to define direction 0 degrees is with respect to the page and the scale of the item being represented by the tool. For instance, a vertical pipe racker has a 360 degree slew where 0 degrees is forward with respect to the ship on an offshore drilling platform. It would be nice to visually represent that on an available gauge in PI Vision.

A simple 'speedometer style' directional bearing indicator is available here: https://pisquare.osisoft.com/community/developers-club/pi-visualization-development/blog/2017/10/04/pi-vision-2017-compass-gauge-symbol This seems deal to show instantaneous wind direction. PI Vision should include something similar (with scale and zero-offset options). But this is not a 'wind rose'. A wind rose is used to visualise historical wind data. A good example is here: https://www.highcharts.com/demo/polar-wind-rose/dark-unica Again, PI Vision should include something similar.
