Gauge: Support Zones / Scale Ranges

Support zone configuration on gauges so that the user has an indication of whether the attribute is in a good or bad state.  If an attribute has limits defined for it in PI AF (LO, LOLO, HI, HIHI), the gauge should default to the limits by default.

I'm surprised that this is not current functionality. If this is not scheduled for release, then can you write an article that describes methods to implement including how to create a custom symbol.

Hi there, I have created a custom symbol that support this feature. Find a screenshot attached.

If you want to know more about that feel free to contact me: julian.weber@werusys.de

    This should be basic functionality!

But is there the ability to show the Zones on the gauge? I feel this would be useful.

Besides the range of displayable values in the gauge, it would be nice to have markers for "target" and any other limits in the gauge. Same for the bars.

It would also be great to have this for the bar graph as well same feature set of being able to see the "set Points" and allow them to overlap as well.

This would be something similar to a bullet graph where each range is illustrated all the time(normal/target, low, high, high high, etc). currently you can only see the multi-state range the data resides in at that time, this would allow uses to see the normal ranges all the time. Consider adding option to multi-state config to always shows the defined ranges

Add radial dial multistate colors on dial ring, or on an inter-ring of the dial. This would show where needle is within the different states.

As an end user of PI Vision, I would Vision to provide the capability to show up AF attribute traits ( HiHi, LoLo...) on all kinds of gaugues

This is a great idéa! Scale zones with the ability to have them custom colored. Powered by traits in AF or preffered attribute. Out of the box it should work with traits.

I totally agree with that, AF and Vision should be linked on those parameters. Like Louis-Philippe said, it would be good to see where the zones are on the gauge, so you can see if you are close to Hi or Lo for example.

We would like the "Radial gauge" to be able to mark individual work areas defined in "Muliti-state". For example, the freness on the mp5 cover from 0 to 17 red range, from 17 to 21 yellow and from 21 to 30 green, and above red (the color on the scale and the current value would be marked with a digit). Below is how it is and how we would like it to be.

Our operators are used to work with DCS displays with analog gauges showing operating ranges. I've attached an example from the book 'The High Performance HMI Handbook'. Our operators ask frequently for similar sysmbols in PI Vision.

I like the idea of markers, I don't like the idea of defaulting the range to limits - default range should stay Min-Max, but if you want to add ability to switch to limits, cool rules. As mentioned below, why limit it to Gauges - bars would benefit from this also, and it should 'Target' as well.
