What specific problem are you trying to solve with this enhancement?
When viewing PI Vision dashboards it can be difficult to determine the actual instrument Engineer Tag associated with the data you are viewing. This becomes even more difficult when viewing data that has been mapped to PI AF attributes.
How would you like this feature to work?
Add functionality to open and see information about the attribute or PI Tag when right clicking. When you right click on a PI tag in a display currently the option exists to "Add Selection to Ad Hoc". It would best if an additional option was added something like "See Selection Properties". Included in the properties would be the properties on the PI TAG which includes the Engineering Tag/Instrument Tag.
Who will benefit the most from this enhancement?
Anyone using the PI Vision screens to monitor equipment or a system that sees an issue would quickly be able to determine the source instrument for the data and take action. Currently we need to go through several steps to determine the instrument the PI Tag belongs to.
Greetings!
What specific problem are you trying to solve with this enhancement?
One of the most frequent request we get during daily support of our users is "how can I copy this tag to my excel spread sheet". They see some interesting piece of information and want to get some values in PI datalink but there are no convinient way to simply copy and past needed tagname.
This is not that big of a deal but it's about daily tasks users have with the data
How would you like this feature to work?
Context menu would be nice or anything that would be fast and simple
Who will benefit the most from this enhancement?
Regular users. From what I see all pi users that remebers PI ProcessBook admit that PIVision is not just a step but huge leap forward in usability, however they got used to copy tags from their displays and it will help them a lot

Oleksii
1 What specific problem are you trying to solve with this enhancement?
Nurlyzhan Kumar below has already explained well – it’s too hard to copy information on the display to clipboard, all the workrounds are slow, error prone and come with risk of “damaging” the display (as you need to put into edit mode)
2 How would you like this feature to work?
User right clicks on an element e.g. a numeric value, multistate, or trend line in a graph or a tag listed in search and right clicks at this point there should be a context sensitive menu The Top option should be “Quick Copy Tag Name” this will put the tag name or AF element name on the clipboard. Below it should be a “More Copy Options >>>” sub menu. The options for the sub menu should be
Copy Row – this will copy Tagname, descriptor, Engineering Units to clipboard (Procesbook used to have this feature)
Copy Value – Latest Value, as displayed on the element, is copied to clipboard ie.. if the display is not in real time and has a time range from some days back it should be this value used.
Copy Timestamp / Value – as above but both the value and timestamp are copied to the clipboard
Where more than one piece of information is pushed to the clipboard is should be “tabular” such that it can be pasted into e.g. Excel and the information goes into different cells.
Users can already select multiple element with CTRL-Click (e.g. for Ad-Hoc trends), if multiple elements are selected when right clicking on the last one the same menus should appear and when pushing to clipboard the individual elements are separate rows in the “tabular data”
3 Who will benefit the most from this enhancement?
All users, everyone needs to share a tag name from time to time!
Hello,
What specific problem are you trying to solve with this enhancement?
We are trying to eliminate the manual, multi-step process required to capture a tag name. This inefficiency not only slows down our workflow but also increases the risk of transcription errors, which can be a hassle during troubleshooting or reporting.
The problem:
Currently, copying a tag name in PI Vision is quite clunky. I often have to either hover over a tag value and wait for about a second until the tag label appears - then manually note it down - or right-click, edit the tag, scroll down to the “label” option, and then copy it.
How would you like this feature to work?
We’d like to see a clear, "one click copy tag name” option either integrated into a right-click context menu or as a dedicated button on the display. When selected, the tag name should instantly be copied to the Windows clipboard, with a quick visual confirmation that it’s been copied. This would allow us to easily paste the tag name into other tools or documents without any extra steps.
Who will benefit the most from this enhancement?
This feature would be a huge win for all PI Vision users - especially for process engineers, operators, and data analysts. It would save time, reduce errors, and streamline our workflows when we need to cross-reference or transfer tag names between different applications.
As PI Vision usage in our company increases exponentially, the lack of very basic features such as this becomes more apparent and becomes a blocker to end users working efficiently and effectively in PI Vision.
Frequently the first point of call to a query is a schematic in vision, whilst some analysis is done in vision we have various specialised tools where I need to enter the tag name. The ability to copy and paste into this or a spreadsheet, or even an email would save much time and reduce errors. PLEASE CONSIDER IT
Couldnt agree more!
Agree with others that an option should be added when Right Click a value or Object on a PI Vision to display, there should be a "Copy Data Reference to Clipboard" option so can use the tag in another application such as PI Datalink. This would be a very useful and be a lot more user friendly then the current option of screen shoting the tag reference when hover over it or trying to search through an export if use the "Save as CSV" option.
