Trending data by other Indices, Vertical trends, Trending by Depth

O&G customers that are looking at creating analysis applications for their drilling operations, would like to have an option to create vertical trends that would allow them to analyze their drilling operation by depth. Trending by another index other than time. For example Oil & Gas Drilling operations.

    Good for any operations. Sometimes display layout calls for vertical trends.

    It is very essential in real time drilling analysis of oil& gas to have vertical trends with depth scales and trends of various parameters correlated to depth instead of time. for example ROP, SWOB, RPM have to trended against depth.

    Is it possible to display trends of different parameters in real time drilling in depth based scales. eg. depth scale and SWOB, RPM, Torque against well depth. murthy

    Murthy, I would question if OSI PI is the right tool for looking at data with a dual key, such as depth. There are many great tools with 40 years of development for looking at depth based data. For dual key data, you are better off with a SQL or Cassandra structure to the database than a historian optimised for time sequential data. If the data is only in PI, move it into a structured database with graphics designed for depth based plotting.
