PI ProcessBook "Assign symbol to template" option for PI Vision

As a Coresight user, a feature similar to the "Assign symbol to template" option in ProcessBook would be useful. After grouping objects together, the user can assign the group to a template and be able to drag out this group relative to a different asset. This would be very useful in building out displays that have information about various assets on one page.

This sounds very much like collections in PI Vision 2017.

Hello all, we use this feature extensively in Processbook. We are a fairly large Piloting Plan with several running Projects at the same time. Also we have a fair amount of changes in the interconnection of our equipment (all of this is production scale). Since we use PI Displays to create specific displays with integrated alarming and analysis, we have to create several displays that don't match existing displays per year. This task is done by our Operators beside their normal work as an operator and using this feature was the way to make this possible because it dramtically decreased the time needed (you just drag in the involved asset elements, interconnect them and create some Datase/Multistate functionality. Hence the use of this function, besides the ability to create Datasets and do calculations like in Processbook) to us is crucial and the lag of this functions in PI Vision for us is a no go to switch to PI Vision. Would really be great to have those options in PI Vision. Thanks!

Many people would say that this feature sounds like collection feature, but it would allow for a more flexible organisation of graphic elements on a display. Also, it would be great to assign not only one, but several symbols to AF template, and then choose the appropriate graphic template to display. Let's say that I have a gas flow meter template, and want to create a display of gas network with meters positioned at the right place. You navigate through AF hierarchy, find appropriate element, and it has several graphical templates assigned to it (for example, a group of flow meter symbol from graphic library, live value of pressure, temperature and flow, and a trend of total flow) which you could drag and drop on a display where it is needed.
