Changing Units of Measure (UOM)

The ProcessBook feature of changing the units would be great in PI Vision. Example: instead of Watts, it would be better to see MW.

AVEVA PI Vision 2022 introduces new functionality to set the unit of measure for AF attributes at the symbol level. See an overview of new AVEVA PI Vision 2022 capabilities on our YouTube learning channel: https://youtu.be/apE-B8hkOy4 ( https://youtu.be/apE-B8hkOy4 ) For additional information on AVEVA PI Vision 2022, please see the release announcement here: https://customers.osisoft.com/s/knowledgearticle?knowledgeArticleUrl=000040161 ( https://customers.osisoft.com/s/knowledgearticle?knowledgeArticleUrl=000040161 )

This feature is crucial for PI Vision. It will allow users to leverage the power of UOM. Because of the lack of this feature, some users had to create additional attributes to be able to expose values in different UOM (users end up going against AF development best practices).

Again, we are left with a sub-standard visualization tool. Whatever were you thinking when you didn't bother to include UOM selection? These basic things, things ProcessBook can do with ease, should have been put in as a matter of course - we shouldn't have to be begging for basics. Instead we have, as commented, a requirement to duplicate attributes just to do basic unit adjustments, breaking our naming conventions and trouncing your own AF development best practices.

I would like to strongly support this idea. Engineering Units of displayed data (attribute) on PI Vision should be changed by user.

Convert units on display of attributes (under formatting options)

It would be great to use the UoM group feature within PI Vision (with a dropdown)!!!

Very keen to see this implemented. It is a great AF feature and would be great to also have this functionality in Vision. Different users like to see different units such as L/s vs ML/d or mm vs m as examples.

Yes - please do something around allowing the user to select the UOM or UOM set they want in Vision. There are products out there that do this already. Should be possible to leverage the UOM groups in AF. This is quite important for global companies, where the displays will be consumed in many parts of the world. There are many things Vision could do with Units of Measure. For example, convert all traces in a trend to a common UOM - we have process flows measured in bbl/h, kbbl/day, etc. It would be nice to be able to specify that in the trend they can all be converted to a common UOM for better comparison.

VERY IMPORTANT FOR US AS A GLOBAL COMPANY!!! Do be able do use Collections it is absolutely no solution to create seperate Attributes for each UOM!!!

As others have said this is a feature that absolutely should be in PI Vision. We are converting over to PI Vision from Processbook due to support ending soon, and it is crazy that we will lose this kind of basic functionality that is one of the big benefits of using PI-AF.

One more idea where I would appreciate if someone from OSIsoft gave it a status. It has been posted for a long time, and it should have been implemented long ago.

I agree having encountered the same issue following ProcessBook display migration in Vision 2020. The values are now reading too large due to loss of the UOM conversion. As the displays are schematics containing on average 100+ values, the readings are too confusing. We've reverted back to viewing the original ProcessBook displays through Vision.

The best features of ProcessBook should be carried over to PI Vision because these features have already been approved by time and users.

this is more than just UOM, by using formatting, one can put any text before or after a displayed value, to clarify what it is without adding additional text blocks (eg. Setpoint = Tag.sp kg/h) this makes the pages cleaner, and allows one to display things correctly even when the underlying database may have small errors that are often too hard to fix

That's great, also being able to add units to a calculation would be very welcome.
