PI Adapter for OPC UA should be able to write outputs to the OPC UA Server

The PI Adapter should be able to create a data pipe listener on certain streams (unsolicited reads) that would trigger the writes back to the OPC UA Server. This is useful when providing set points to the equipment without the need of establishing a second (DA to UA) data flow in parallel.

In the industry the demand for secure & native OPC UA integration is increasing.
Ability to make PI data available through OPC UA protocol is certainly something what should be addressed by AVEVA.
Either an PI OPC UA Server to allow connected applications to pull PI data using OPC UA, or, as suggested here, to have an Adapter to push data into external OPC UA Servers
Complexity might be the fact that Adapters are not designed to read from their OMF endpoints.

Eagerly waiting to understand the AVEVA roadmap. Usage of DA/UA wrappers should only be a workaround

Voted. I can certainly see the use case, but there must also be a Read Only adapter which does not contain the write code. Same logic as the current Read Only interface(s).

To write the value back to equipment is for most of enterprise customers essential, especially if production is orientated to MES workflows. Sadly that for suitable replacement for most used classic (old) interfaces, like OPC DA, there is still no proper solution.

Yes Ability to write back to source OPC UA is essential.

We need this feature to replace our old OPC DA Interfaces. Otherwise we wont be able to switch to PI Adapters.
