Develop an interactive INI editor for the UFL Connector

The editor should allow you to see in real time how it interacts with the data. Being able to test the INI file prior to loading some file would make it much more manageable to read a variety of data format and insure that it has the expected behavior before starting the connector and having to use a trial and error approach. A good example of this is what Microsoft does with PowerQuery in PowerBI. This would allow troubleshooting UFL issues much more easily and allow more people to use the connector without having to spend a serious amount of time testing all the various scenarios.

Declined - At the time we will not be implementing this idea since it does not align with our current data collection strategy.

I am surprised as well that this is still not available.

OSIsoft already has an internal web-based tool at - http://ufleditor:4200/
The UFL Designer could also be a standalone kit, updated to use .NET 4.8+

Either is low effort, and would beneficial for all PI users.

The PI UFL Interface comes with an INI builder (albeit a pretty outdated one). It does makes sense for the PI UFL Connector to come with a modern INI builder as well +1

Please please please do this. I have no background in creating ini's and if the examples on GitHub aren't exact, I have massive problems creating one. And, there's no way to tell why my ini is failing. I know the connector is getting data, but nothing is being written to PI and I have NO idea why!

@OsiSoft - This idea\request is over 3 years old now and is the #1 most requested feature for the UFL Connector. How long does this need to be "evaluated"? We have spent considerable amount of money on developers and engineers developing ini files to capture data. I would appreciate it if this could be prioritized as this one thing would bring immediate value to us and would make the UFL Connector more useful. The lack of this feature is starting to irritate me (and others). I was disappointed to see no content about any advances with the UFL Connector at virtual Pi World. Can we please get this done already!?

It's interesting that you mention Power Query in Power BI as being a good example. I don't see any reason why we can't just use Power Query in Power BI as the method of extracting data from text files, or any non-real-time data sources for that matter. Then we wouldn't need the INI file language at all. https://feedback.osisoft.com/forums/555139-pi-connectors/suggestions/40518250-pi-connector-for-power-bi-desktop-the-swiss-army
