Connector level failover - PI System Connector

Support connector-level failover in PI System Connector. Similar to UniInt failover (interfaces). Failover options should support hot, warm and cold failover.

Failover between PI System Connectors is essential because we have customers who are looking at PI 24/7 and cannot accept any measurable outage. Connector-level failover prevents data gaps and avoids operational risk for our team, and end users.

Additional scenarios include routine patching and server lifecycle management. In both cases, the system must support seamless failover so that maintenance can be performed on one connector in the pair without disrupting operations.

From a business SLA perspective, PI is considered a Tier 1 application. Tier 1 status requires built‑in failover capabilities to ensure continuity if the primary system becomes unavailable. Without meeting these Tier 1 requirements, the application cannot be relied upon for production use.

Failover is a critical issue for my customer. They have a 24/7 operation that cannot accept any downtime, so even history recovery is not sufficient enough. They will continue using PI-PI interfaces until failover is available in PSC.
