Improve search Capabilities of Management Tab

A few minor improvements to the search and filtering capabilities of the management tab could save time when doing backfills at scale - for example after transferring several elements from a development server.  If possible the following search capabilities could be very useful: -Improve search by template: Currently when searching by template every analysis will be listed and in alphabetical order by analysis - not template name which makes it difficult to search. It could be helpful if it were possible to choose one template and every analysis associated with that template would be included.  At the very least, adjust the ordering of the drop-down so that it is in alphabetical order by template -Improve Element search: Include or allow for search of child Elements as part of Element search

We have introduced simple filtering and sorting to the Management tab, and released it as a part of PI AF Client 2018 SP3 Patch 4. Please continue to provide feedback on what we have implemented and what we should consider in the future!

The simple filtering added in PI AF Client 2018 SP3 Patch 4 is pretty much useless. Not only is there no instruction on how to use it, but when searching for analytics it tends to return nothing back.

We should be able to complex searches based on the different criteria.

Which version of AF are you using? In recent versions, we allow you to search by individual analysis templates in the management plugin and we also allow you to perform element searches that includes Descendants.

Add the ability to easily find analyses in the groups without template. This is a feature some customers need when the None groups aren't performing well.

Steven - we are on 2.10.5.9050. To clarify the opportunity, for template search it would be nice to be able to search for all analysis in a certain element template- not just specific analyses. I have been unable to search for element descendants in a management tab analysis search. Is there a certain nomenclature I need to use to include the descendants?

Matthew, in the analysis Management plug-in, the element search is by name, with support for wildcards. This search includes child elements. I just tested this and seems to work as expected.

It would be helpful to restrict searches to specific branches of the element hierarchy. Now, the search only allows you to search by element name, but not by element path. This is confusing since the Element Name column in the search results shows the full element path. It would helpful to have one of two options: 1. Keep the element name search but expand the search to look at the full element path. This would allow a search like Plant1*Area1* to return all analyses under a given branch. 2. Implement the full element search as as in PSE Elements plugin and other clients. This would allow users to set a root element for the search.

I'd like to combine filter criteria. I e.g. can seach for disabled analyses. However I cannot combine this with search for a template. When pressing 'Add Criteria', everything is greyed out.

The search by template criteria is particularly painful. It returns one line per analysis per element template. Let's say you have 10 element templates with 10 analysis in each element template, this search criteria dropdown will return 10x10=100 possible options to choose from which also are not ordered alphabetically. As mclark mentioned, It could be helpful if it were possible to first choose the element template and then every analysis associated with that template would be included. Also, it is very interesting what Brent Bregenzer mentioned in his post about filtering by element path.
