Edit PI Vision data item references in a text field

Searching for and dragging and dropping a new PI tag reference takes much longer than right-clicking and editing the tag name. Can PI Vision be designed to follow the historical PI Processbook design where the tag name reference was a text-editable field?


This has further implications for editing the tags on an existing trend:


Searching for and dragging and dropping a new PI tag reference into an existing trend alters the formatting of all existing trend lines. Some groups follow certain trend line formatting for all Setpoints/Measurements/Output readings. Therefore, when updating a tag name, they must re-configure the formatting for all tags in that trend. This is very time consuming.

    This was available in PI ProcessBook, so it is disappointing that it did not carry over to PI Vision. I agree this is very annoying when you need to tweak an existing tag: you need to search, drag+drop, and then manually copy over any point configuration details that you want to keep. Please do this!

In addition to the drag-drop option available for attributes, maybe having a textbox functionality that allows us to apply/change the name of the object’s attribute and thus changing the related attribute easily without having to search for it.
