PI Vision Trend: Option to Display Full AF Attribute Path in Trend Legend

Currently in a PI Vision Trend you can only see the full Attribute Path by hovering over the attribute name in the legend. If the attributes have differently named parent elements, then the legend will show the Parent Element and attribute name only, it will not show the parent element's parent element or more than that. If the parent elements are named the same, then the PI Vision trend will only show the Attribute name. For example, in the attached image there is a trend with 2 attributes named "Attribute", the first one has the following path: "\\AARVM1\854090\Parent1\Child 1.1\Child 1.1.1|Attribute", and the second attribute has the following path: "\\AARVM1\854090\Parent2\Child 1.1\Child 1.1.1|Attribute". Both attributes have identical names, and identical parent elements, as well as identical parent element's parent element, however the 3rd parent elements, going up the AF hierarchy, are different, but PI Vision only shows the attribute names. The only way to distinguish between either one of these attributes in the PI Vision Trend is to hover over the name of the attribute in the legend, which shows the full path. It's also not possible to distinguish between these attributes in the Trace Options without hovering over the attribute names. My suggestion, which is linked to case 854090, is to give the user an option to view the full path in the trend legend or to be able to choose how much of the full path to display in the trend legend.

This feature request could perhaps be extended by allowing to specify the number of upper elements levels to display abobe the attribute, from none to th full path. Note that this feature already exists in PI-DATALINK PIAF Search dialog windows through a slider that split the full path in two pieces.

This feature request is also echoed in case 924733. This issue not only affects trend legends, but also affects the "Switch Asset" list of elements that have similar/same names. No way to immediately distinguish them without the full path being shown.

How to add the element name or the element path to a trend?

I have the same question: How to add the element name or the element path to a trend? Is there a solution or a workaround?

The ability to customize the visibility of the attribute name and path on a trend (both minimized and maximized) is highly desired by users. It is pretty frustrating when you have something like "Tank 1|Level" and "Tank 2|Level" and when someone maximizes one of them, it just shows "Level". When navigating the display in a group setting, you'll hear a lot of "Which one are we looking at, again?" Currently it will only display the parent element if you have multiple attributes on the trend from different parent elements. This is not an issue in Processbook since there are never any ambiguous labels.

Trends currently display the Element and the Attribute name. We would like an option to display the Attribute name only. This is similar to the ability we have when formatting the visibility of a Value on the display.
