Disable Build/Edit mode for displays when user doesn't have write access

It can be somewhat odd and a little confusing for operators utilizing a pre-made display that they only have read access where they can still 'edit' the display. It would be helpful if there was a way to lock a display down where the only manipulation is manipulating the time ranges and going to full screen trends.

good idea. there should be configurable levels what a user is able to do with a display (depending on domain groups for example). Configuration might be possible with display settings and give different levels of possibilites (like assetswitch, adding attributes, using add hoc display, new display, edit display).

I think this is still an important topic. for compliance reasons (regulatory requirments e.g. from life science industries), it's needed to make sure a user can't modify shown information for his needs. it's useless to have user restrictions for saving if the user is still able to edit the display, use for is decisions and the just doesn't save.
